Moon hope

There is a moon
Hanging over the window tonight
And I feel it is soon
Someone will come to make it right

Trapped inside walls
Of my own doing, I hide
It has been a long fall
My tears of loneliness, long dried

The doors are unlocked
I could walk out I suppose
But what lies around the block
No one knows, no one knows

I hear the footsteps
I cringe even as they pass my door
I have been here forever
Never knowing what will come forth

There is a moon
Hanging over the window tonight
And I hope it is soon
Someone will convince me to fight

if you have never been to this enchanted land, you would not be able to visualise the grace of hands brought together, to signify respect and welcome. the flick of fingers in rhythmic response to the gamelan brass orchestra - anger. love. goodbye. in a drama that unfolds through dance. and dance alone.

hands, beckon
anger. love. goodbye
the music begins

if you have never been to this legacy of romance, you would not be able to listen to the million fables brought together, to represent centuries of storytelling. or the flick of fingers in rhythmic response to the voice of the penglipurlara - makyung. wayang. mulung. in a drama that unfolds on  stage. alone.

stories, beckon
makyung. wayang. mulung.
the show begins

if you have never been to this world of grace, you would not be able to smell the million scents brought together, to represent centuries of tradition. or the flick of fingers in rhythmic response to the brass pots and wooden stove - cloves. curry. cinnamon. in a drama that unfolds above the fire. and fire alone.

spices, beckon
cloves. curry. cinnamon
the feast begins

Earth - couplets, haiku and a pleiade

I wonder why the clouds are grey
With not a sight of raindrop all day

Rivers no longer rush with thrill to sea
Amidst sluggish crawl to break free

From all the hazards from the towns
From way up high, down to the ground

Is it time for mother earth to retreat
Abandon all of us to our own beat

Shall we be like moths to the flame
When no one is left to take the blame

As she rises in all her fury and might
And we will be defeated in this fight.

Each moment, like crystal
Evermore as we part
Evening, a hallowed treat
Expansive starry night
Earth - beauty, unrivaled

Homecoming

I walk to the corner, round the bend
Trees seem taller, birds sing a different tune

I hop from island to peninsular
The very air seems different, even the moon

I move across three continents
Across oceans and rivers and dunes

I return, years after prolonged absence
I recognise nothing, but the tunes

And all at once, the years disappear.
I am home.

Perfection

Centuries have passed by
And still,
she commands attention.

Shines in a room
of strangers
who all claim to know her

Heads turn
at  her lovely silhouette
mysterious

Doomed.

A cocoon of deception

Waiting turns to pain in autumn
Waiting turns to pain in autumn
Time abandons love from my arms
Time abandons love from my arms
From my arms, love abandons me
Autumn brings pain, with endless waiting

The walks in the park of evergreens
The walks in the park of evergreens
Lies to me - our love will survive all
Lies to me - our love will survive all
Our love survives the evergreens
But you lied to me as we walked

I suffered a year while in bliss
I suffered a year while in bliss
Your deception cloaked me in a cocoon
Your deception cloaked me in a cocoon
The cocoon held me in bliss
Your deception was my undoing

From my arms, love abandons me
Autumn brings pain, with endless waiting
Our love survives the evergreens
But you lied to me as we walked
The cocoon you wove held me in bliss
Your kind deception was my undoing

NAGA - A VIDEO PREVIEW

NAGA spans three realms from the ancient world -- Middle Kingdom during the Tang Dynasty, Nagara and Bhumi Semenanjung Melayu. It is the story of three adventurers, Sri Gemom, Srikandi and Kemboja and how fate set their worlds on a collision course that shook the very foundations of an ancient civilisation. More than that, against the background of sorcery and magic, the tragic tale of survival and loyalty shines through.

Words

Words whisper
Caress
Taunt

Monopolise
Anger
Hurt

Tantalise
Inspire
Heal

Misrepresent
Suppress
Lie

Words can never be as powerful as emotion.
And yet emotions need a name to unleash their  power.

The waiting

The afternoon sun

Warms up my fingers
Like little kisses planted
On beach pebbles

Memories of waves
Throughout the night
Never really fade

Now, the morning chill
Is completely replaced
By tingling anticipation,

Unbearable.

The colours of this emotion

Red.

Light flickers
A long sigh escapes
The modern city never sleeps
Busy overkill

Blue.

Skies overhead
Lazy clouds swirl
Endless empty thoughts
Drudgery kills

Green.

Waves arrive
Never ceasing its rhythm
The seagulls cry
My fate sealed.

Lost

We are caught
In turmoil, and continue to seek
For answers, that will surely
One way or the other
Devastate us.

It is time for prayers

The Lighthouse

“There are times when the ocean is not the ocean - not blue, not even water, but some violent explosion of energy and danger: ferocity on a scale only gods can summon. It hurls itself at the island, sending spray right over the top of the lighthouse, biting pieces off the cliff. And the sound is a roaring of a beast whose anger knows no limits. Those are the nights the light is needed most.”
― M. L. Stedman - The Light Between Oceans

Poetry escapes me
And my world is a desert
I long for the island,

where it rains words and flights of fancy

by ninotaziz

-----------------------------------------------------

The painting is a gift , a work of art by dear Sir Hanks who writes ferociously. Today, like the lighthouse within its stern and stark frame, it stared at me accusingly. "Write Ninot, write whatever comes to mind." But my mind is a desert that refuses to obey my ever eager fingers, my exhausted poet self. I am chasing dreams, and spinning stories. Instead, I found the words of M L Stedman, which does the painting justice.

I am lost in the real world. And my true Eden lies in wait.

Perspective

We are so tiny, yet debate
As if the colour of the rainbow
Would change if we willed it so

Since childhood, we are taught fairplay
And to treat one another as our equal
Yet we still strive to be individuals

We have sheltered under the same
blue sky, looked out to the horizon
And gaze at the silvery moon

Throughout centuries, earth spins endlessly
And if she wobbles or shakes ever
so slightly, we give in to phenomenal fear

We are so tiny, yet debate
As if the colour of the rainbow
Would change if we willed it so
