I just sit upon a writing desk, and write. And then, I tell stories. Legends of long ago.
Perspective
We are so tiny, yet debate
As if the colour of the rainbow
Would change if we willed it so
Since childhood, we are taught fairplay
And to treat one another as our equal
Yet we still strive to be individuals
We have sheltered under the same
blue sky, looked out to the horizon
And gaze at the silvery moon
Throughout centuries, earth spins endlessly
And if she wobbles or shakes ever
so slightly, we give in to phenomenal fear
We are so tiny, yet debate
As if the colour of the rainbow
Would change if we willed it so

ha. yes. or that we own the rainbow...
ReplyDeleteinstead of taking our place along side it or under it..
and recognizing its beauty
My thoughts are the same as Brian's......I love this poem, my friend, which says so much. Love the repetition of the first stanza at the end too, which brings it full circle. Really good writing!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's a truth of humankind. I like the repetition of the first lines at the end. It brings very satisifying closure.
ReplyDeleteI can't add any new thing to the comments. This is just a lovely piece.
ReplyDeleteSo much is beyond our control!
ReplyDeleteWhen I look back over the long years I cannot claim that I have achieved what I set out to achieve. I cannot now claim that I got what I wanted. No doubt one gets what one deserves through hardwork and so on, but not the real dream. Indeed, hard work leads somewhere but hardly anything specific.
ReplyDeleteThe real dream…I hope I am not blinded by a dream, Pakcik.
DeleteMissing Al-Manar.
Cantik betul sajak ini. Well done
