My name is Questrina

My name is Questrina
And I seek Earth's
Most illustrious treasures

Five in all

A single magical snowflake
Upon the world's pavements
At the moment before it melts

It holds the secret of life

I seek to capture the innocence
Of a child's wondrous heart
Open to magic and creation

Transcending disbelief

The essence of the earth
Lies in a leaf fluttering in the wind
Buried within your dwindling forest

The power to heal

Diving into the deep blue
I need to find a salt crystal
That contains the earth's wisdom

That holds all together

Most sacred, pray listen hard
The memories of the world
Thousands of voices of the past

Legends that have come to pass

Precious beyond words.

  1. This is just beautiful, Nntaziz. I wonder if you could find a synonym for one of the repeated "wondrous" words, eg innocent. I hope you don't mind the suggestion.

  3. Wow, this is one of your best, Ninotaziz! Absolutely wonderful. The single lines underlining the message are very powerful - very effective format. The image of the globe is stunning. Beautifully written and inspiring one to wonder - and to cherish.

  10. a magical read. My favorite stanzas are the one about children "transcending disbelief" and the crystal containing earth's wisdom "that holds it all together."

  13. Dear Ninot Ma'am,
I've created my own Art Blog. My first posting is at One Shot Wednesday Week 23. It will comprise for each posting a sketch and an accompanying verse. This was all inspired by your Picasso remarks, remember? Thanks so much!

  14. Nice personification of the writer in the opening stanza, and the list style of the five treasures is like opening a series of beautifully wrapped gifts. Enjoyed it, as always with your work.

  16. you had me with the single snowflake the moment before it melts...a great capture of a moment in time...i can feel how it feels before it melts..that's what poetry can do, make you feel like a snowflake on the pavement of the world and you can feel the melting...great!!

  19. Oh my gosh, Nino.. I got goosebumps reading this poem!
There was something so mystical and dreamlike about this... and yet honest and innocent too..
The perfect wordplay, the rhythm you set, and the rich imagery -- all I can say is, this was a real delight to the senses..
My absolute favorite was the last stanza .. there was something so haunting about it... WOW!!! Phheewww.. I can go on and on and on... but I think I should stop RIGHT NOW! :))
