Survival

Travel far into space and time
What did H G Wells find
Man lost his mind

His reason, his cunning
All that were left - machines
Silently humming

In houses of light.

After 30 years, I re-read H G Wells The Time Machine ( a class reader in school)
and found it as riveting and fascinating as the first time I had read it.

  1. I liked this much. The Wells reference and the worth of his accomplishments compared to his end. The last stanza was a powerful commentary. Very nice.

    1. The world created by Wells was very bleak. It was great storytelling but I preferred the world of Dune.

    1. H G Wells was really cool, wasn't he? Jules Verne and believe it or not Herge too were my favorites. Today I share Tin Tin with my daughters.

  8. Beautiful poem that reminds us of H.G Wells, one of the pioneers of English science fiction. Good stories remain good stories even though they're old.
