The Mistress

I am the fragile beauty.

A creation of the your malady.

Unfashionably late apologies.
Unfulfilled promises.
Unfaithful character.

    1. The prompt was a good one. Could be deceptively simple, and yet very difficult. Kind of like your contradictions! Thank you for visiting.

  2. To me, the final three lines could apply to the narrator or the person about whom the narrator is speaking. Or both, I guess. I enjoy that layering, well done.

    1. Ahhha! You saw it. While writing this, I went through a metamorphosis. First the self deceiving mistress. Then the deceiver.

  4. Wonderfully crafted. I agree with 'chips from a life'; this is indeed a painting of words.

  8. Terse, yet thoughtful and poignant.

I'm not quite getting your second sentence, though. Do you yearly want both the and your, or am I missing something?

    Cheers!

    1. Sometimes poetry can't be explained. It loses its magic. But here, the flaw (malady) of one creates another flaw in the other.

    1. Dear Sara,
Sometimes we let ourselves be dictated by the expectation of others, don't you think?

    1. I guess, Carrie, we all have gone through these passages of life. Perhaps we all go through the same trials, emotions and interaction with different degrees, a test how to see we react? We choose? We live?
