Writer's Block - the little death

8.24am

By nature, writers are lonely people. Sitting at their desk, kitchen table, garden seat - now a computer beckons and we stare at inspiration til it turns yellow pin spots, words pour out yet to be faced with frustration

Sputtering death -
Insipid words crawl listless
Black hole for writers

And here at dVerse, we are told to just write! You well know - it is the worst thing to tell a writer. Just write? What were you thinking of Jo?

    1. It did, didn't it, Brian? Which is more than I can say for the comment box. I am sure I replied here hours ago - and yet it is missing!

  2. Haha. Nice one and so true. When people say Write what you know, it drives me nuts.

  6. If devoid of inspiration, write about it; write about writing; write about not writing. My motto! You've done well.

  8. The saying, "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything", does not apply to writers. Just say it! I write when I write and don't when I don't. Roll with the punch-line.
    Love the haiku!

    1. We are from a different planet, that's for sure! I received an award today and my plaque was a stone - And I smiled from ear to ear for I understand clearly what pebbles and stones mean to writers - thanks for dropping by.

  9. ...writers are lonely people...writing when there is none that writes...laughing when there is none that laughs...weeping when there is none that weeps...sleeping when there is none that sleeps...and living when there is none that lives... I hover between your inclusion of time check in & out ma'am...and i must say writing in 3 mins or less is quite of a writer's block...hihi...

    Smiles...

and living when there is none that lives...

Kelvin, writing is a piece of cake for you, I see...

I need to write very, very fast for there are a million things to take care of. I wish I could write for a living!

    1. Thank you Judith! We writers will continue to write and write and write. And like Charles mentioned above, if we face a moment when we can't write, we write about that too!
