Vincent's canvas

The sun ablazing
Unreal, but the heat
Arising from the earth

Burns

The bluest night
Of the cafe
Lingers til dawn

Inviting

Rolling stars
Upon the midnight
Blanket, the skies

Alive

The cypress trees
And crescent moon
Sick and tortured

Menacing

Irises dancing
In the wind
Lightness of being

Joy

Wound wrapped up
Pain, borne of rejection
Consumed by his art

The artist, forlorn

Le soleil brille,
Et la chaleur
montant de la terre

Brûlures

  2. Ninot Ma'am,
In a nutshell all of Vincent's masterpieces, portraits and cypress trees in your wonderful poem. How's the going, your book and all?

  3. Dear Fireblossom,
I hope to do justice. But his hues of yellow and deep blues are just to magnificent for words...

    Sir Hanks,
It is in the hands of my dear publisher, Utusan. They will do editing, layout and so on...so it will be a while before it sees the light of day. I must keep busy with other things...if not I will drive them crazy!

    Glad you liked the poem.

  15. I really like the way you told the artist's story in stanza form, significant piece by significant piece.

Love these beautiful French words - a poem all by themselves.

  17. I love the way you used the white space. And I wholehearted agree with the comment you made to Fireblossom. Van Gogh's colors WERE too magnificent for words.

  19. aha, poets often share the same muse. I, too, referred to his other works to paint a picture. :-)
