the seas remain constant
throughout all millenium
long after we are gone
people, cities and kingdoms
but the lores remain
to be called upon again
like the sea, they return
we pray, never in vain
epics young and old
lessons of yesterday, retold
the need to believe
keeps them within our fold
legends, the truth we try to tell
our visions of heaven and hell
yesteryears' tolling bells
and that, they will teach us well
and that, they will teach us well.

For dversepoets
the truths we tell guide us...
ReplyDeletefor they are the truths we believe...
Some myths guide us well,
ReplyDeletebut the same can be used poorly.
May we stop taking them literally,
and watch the rhetoric.
Love your poem
Ninot Ma'am,
ReplyDeleteTruth be told and it can stretch a millennium as long as it is the truth! It takes valiant efforts to determine the truth though! Thoughtful thoughts!

I think we need those legends and myths to guide us forth. Forgetting them would be a big mistake, and maybe adding a few new ones that can guide future generations?
ReplyDeleteThat refraining last line is perfect ~ Legends and stories we need to keep as precious legacies ~
ReplyDeleteGood to read you Ninot ~
