step into my dream
it meanders like a never-ending river
***
the river of my youth is a rock
it anchors me to my childhood
***
there is a place
where the clouds are mirrored
in flowing water
crocodiles lurk
but do not attack
floating islands invite play
riverbanks merely
a gateway to secrets below the water
there is a place
where bamboo reeds are growing
reaching to the sky

Ninot, how LOVELY to see you posting here. Yay! I adore this poem....there is a place and a river in our best childhood memories, I suspect. I love the sound of yours.
ReplyDeleteLovely to be back Sherry. It's been 100 days since my last poem!
DeleteSo glad when I dropped by PU, the prompt was river. Images flooded my mind.
You brought me back!
You have conveyed so beautifully the lazy and calm flow of the river!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol. Our rivers here in Malaysia can be lazy and calm. Then the monsoon comes and they are treacherous.
DeleteExcellent write :D :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Sanaa :-)
DeleteWhat lovely images! I really like thinking about the bamboo reeds reaching to the sky. Ninot, following Sherry's lead, I am happy to see you here as well!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! Thank you. I was missing from PU, dversepoets and magpietales. Work was really hectic.
ReplyDeleteSo good to be back and I hope I have the time to dedicate to my poetry blogosphre friends!
Thanks for the invite to "step into my dream"--the flow of images and the river as dream and reality. Powerful poem.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome here anytime Susan!
DeleteBeautiful river dreams, they make my head start swimming ...
ReplyDeleteLet's swim together Rosemary, so good to see you here again.
DeleteWhen a dream is formed form the very best possibilities of reality it is magic - which really flows and shines here..
